“For three decades, Chris Kent has immersed himself in the martial arts education founded by my late husband, Bruce Lee. In addition to being highly skilled in the technical aspects of Jeet Kune Do, Chris is an excellent teacher and has a firm grasp of martial arts philosophy and its practical application.”

“Never content to blindly accept only one source of information on Jeet Kune Do, Chris Kent has spent decades researching the history, art, science and philosophy of Bruce Lee’s art and studying under only the most qualified and authentic practitioners. His keen mind, coupled with his insightful and dedicated approach to training, have resulted in the cultivation of awesome physical skills, and made him one of the foremost authorities on Jeet Kune Do in the world.”

"Chris Kent has an encyclopedic knowledge of JKD. He has a superb grasp of the philosophy, training methods and techniques of JKD. His depth of understanding of how these elements integrate into something organic and alive for the individual is what makes him the best of the best of JKD instructors out there. Everyone should train with Chris if they really want to go deep into Bruce Lee’s art of JKD".

"Urban Martial Arts, Leicester UK was very fortunate to host an evening workshop with Sifu Chris Kent on Wednesday 7th September 2009. Chris covered a multitude of JKD principles and left the class participants with plenty to work on for the next 7 months until his return in May 2010. Chris Kent’s depth of knowledge in martial arts is amazing, his explaining of Jeet Kune Do principles and concepts are astounding. Chris is a superb instructor and I’d recommend without reservation that if you truly want to piece together what JKD is and be part of Bruce Lee’s Legacy then Chris Kent is your answer. I am very pleased and honored to call him: my Teacher, my Friend and my Mentor."

“I may be in a unique position to many of the people who have started training in JKD. I am a law enforcement trainer and I have had the pleasure to train with many well-known instructors and in many different areas of martial arts. Even before I became involved in law enforcement, I was seeking out street-effective martial arts.
I originally started training in JKD because I am always looking for new challenges and always trying to gain more knowledge about combat. I was originally pointed towards the Kent Institute (Kent Martial Science Training Center) after attending a law enforcement Seminar in San Diego. It was at this seminar, where one of the participants pointed out I was living near a city with one of the best JKD practitioners in the world. I had heard a lot about JKD and was impressed with much of what I had learned at the seminar. So I decided to visit the Kent Institute and see what it had to offer.
After meeting with Sifu Chris Kent, I knew JKD was for me. Sifu Kent was the epitome of professionalism and JKD was just what I was looking for, it covered all areas of combat. JKD was not about buying a belt or learning katas, it was about finding what worked for me. JKD was about finding what makes you effective, not what works for someone else.
Since training in JKD and Filipino Kali/Escrima with Sifu Kent, I have become a better Law Enforcement Trainer and Operator. Through my association with Sifu Kent I have also become a more confident trainer. JKD has re-energized my quest for effective training and professional growth. I can actually say because of my association with Sifu Kent, I have become a better person."

“The school motto: “Lifting The Human Spirit Through Martial Art” accurately describes what Jeet Kune Do has done for me. I can’t say it any better than that. Along with the “spiritual” aspect, it has increased my flexibility and my cardiovascular endurance as well… When I first heard about Sifu Chris’ credentials, and who he had trained with, as well as the fact that he had moved to Boise, I realized that it would be foolish not to take advantage of this kind of opportunity… I would recommend the school to anyone serious about studying martial arts…”

"I knew about the basic philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, and thought there wasn’t a chance I’d ever get to learn it When I found the Kent Institute was literally around the block from my home, I decided I just had to train there… Jeet Kune Do in general and Sifu Kent specifically have taught me that I do not have to be a victim. If I ever find myself confronted by someone who intended me harm, I now have the confidence that I can deal with it from a position of strength and not with weakness or panic…”

“Training in JKD has done wonders for me personally. Not only has it given me a better understanding of the martial art and an effective approach to training, it has provided a way to approach all things I attempt to do… Through Sifu Kent’s effective training approach I’ve learned how to evaluate and come up with an effective game plan to get from point A to point B… With my band it has helped me approach songwriting and the daunting task of coordinating and scheduling shows with the same mental focus and toughness sometimes needed… JKD has definitely given me an edge mentally and physically to approaching things in life… I learned more at the Kent Institute in two months than I did in two years of studying another traditional martial art…”

"Krys has attended Kent Institute for almost two years and is still motivated to attend class three times a week! The self defense he is learning is for real life situations, not just routine moves. His physical strength and self-esteem continues to improve as does his ability to discern when and how to use his skills. We wholeheartedly recommend the Institute and the program taught by Chris Kent.”
