What is Kent Martial ScienceTM?
Kent Martial ScienceTM is a dynamic program of coordinated physical and mental training designed to help individuals enhance personal performance and achieve maximum skill through the direct application of the latest developments in the fields of exercise science and human performance/development, rather than mere "rote" performance of martial technique from any particular "style" or "system".

Or, more simply,
Martial art is a physical activity and, as a result, is governed by the various physical laws and principles that regulate the world of nature, such as the laws found in Newtonian physics. By virtue of this, every individual will become a better martial artist when they learn to train scientifically. This does not require studying different arts, but rather a study of the human sciences of mechanics, dynamics, and physiology.

Kent Martial ScienceTM is the result of direct application of research into the human sciences of motion, force production, fitness and conditioning, kinesiology, physiology and physics. In KMSTM, we look at things from a scientific vantage point, and judge whether a technique or method is efficient or inefficient, not based on some nebulous category of which is "the best" in any given style. Instead, we judge them in terms of scientific pragmatism---We look into balance, coordination, and body alignment, so that the student may safely deliver a strike while simultaneously maximizing his or her striking power. In KMSTM, you are not learning a "style" of martial art, but rather how to express your own body in movement and action through a science-based, targeted method of progressive training.

But, Kent Martial ScienceTM is much more than simply "How to Be an Unbeatable Street Fighter in 10 Easy Lessons". Just as science must have philosophy as its foundation, KMSTM has as its roots, namely, the pursuit of "maximizing" the individual through personal liberation and self-actualization. The teachings of KMSTM have so much more to offer than merely a prism to view a street fight. It deals with individualism, self-expression, and learning to adapt ones self instantly and harmoniously to whatever obstacle might stand in your way. KMSTM offers freedom from within to without---freedom from ourselves; from all the events and experiences that have molded us into what we are. Not who we really are, but who we have been conditioned to think we are, with all of the overly self-conscious attitudes (our fears, hang-ups, insecurities) we drag around like a ball and chain. Using the vehicle of training how to defeat an opponent, you will learn how to handle your most difficult opponent, yourself.

Kent Martial ScienceTM is "Science applied to the realm of martial art".
But, what does that mean?
It means this....
"When you understand motion, you have no need of style."
Some thoughts from Bruce Lee on the nature and purpose of martial art training
"Jeet Kune Do is only a name."
"...martial art is ultimately an athletic expression of the dynamic human
body. More important yet is the person who is there expressing his own soul. Yes, martial art is an unfolding of what one is..."
"Very often when people talk about JKD, they are very much concerned about its title. Actually, the title is not important. It's only a symbol for the kind of martial art we study."
"Life is like combat, and should be dealt with accordingly."
"...martial art has a very, very deep meaning as far as my life is concerned because, as an actor, as a martial artist, as a human being, all these I have learned from martial art."
"Self-actualization is the important thing. And my personal message to
people is that I hope that they will go toward self-actualization rather than self-image actualization. I hope that they will search within themselves for honest self-expression."
"Self-knowledge is true mastery."
"... There is, however, a systematic, progressive approach to training."
